Tanzania Deep Dive: Part 3 One Body in Christ

Emmanuel International Tanzania (EITZ) has three offices around the country: Iringa, Mwanza, and Tanga. The country is quite large with the longest driving distance between the regions being 18 hours and the shortest being 10 hours. As the undertakings of EITZ expanded, they began to observe how necessary it will be for each of the offices to support each other.

Until 2015, Iringa was the only location for EITZ. At that time, the Mwanza location was started, however it was very small between 2015-2018. The Mwanza office did not need the same things as the Iringa office, making the two very separate in their operations.

As Mwanza grew, the two offices began to need each other more. They came together spiritually and physically, building as one and working off each other’s resources for training and knowledge.

However, once the lockdowns hit during the Covid-19 pandemic, they were forced to stay home. Through this time, the Mwanza team felt it was important to continue meeting together over zoom for a weekly bible study. Since they were forced to do this virtually, there was no reason why they couldn’t also invite the Iringa team.


Now the offices continue to meet weekly over zoom, including their newest office in Tanga which began training staff in March of 2021. The three offices also gather all together for a retreat every two years, but they hope to do so every year moving forward. They continue to exchange training and work collectively as Emmanuel International Tanzania. They see themselves as one body in Christ (1 Cor. 12:12), working as the LORD’s hands and feet in their communities.
