"All Dressed Up"

(with somewhere to go)

It may not seem like a big deal, but being able to afford a uniform and other basic school supplies for a child in Uganda can be the determining factor to whether or not that child receives a primary education. Education may be free but supplies are not.

This Fall, in cooperation with communities in the Pader District of Uganda, local governments and the Resident District Representative, Emmanuel International distributed 210 school uniforms in 10 primary schools to children in poor homes.

The Deputy RDC praised the efforts of EI for helping children stay in school and earn an education. Since the Ugandan government instituted free education in 1997 there are still many who cannot afford the cost of uniforms, books and other supplies needed to get a primary education. EI partners with local governments to help the people of Uganda out of the cycle of poverty and become productive citizens.
