Water Changes Lives!

Most of Tanzania has essentially two seasons, dry and rainy. During the rainy season water abounds, but the long, dry season means that for much of the year potable water is scarce at best. What if Tanzanians could capture the rain water and store it for the time of year when water was scarce? How much would that cost? How much would that actually benefit Tanzanians?

According to the World Health Organization every $1 spent on activities related to improving access to clean water and sanitation generates an economic benefit of $9! Can you imagine a country such as Tanzania reducing the costs of medication, funerals and the wages lost due to illness, simply through investing in water? How many investments do you know of today that generate a guaranteed 9:1 return?

Emmanuel International has taken on a project that will provide clean water to thousands of Tanzanian students and community members every year, simply by collecting rain water and storing it in safe water tanks. Our goal is to raise $70,000 that will ensure the successful completion of 11 storage tanks which will collectively store over 170,000 litres of water each and every year.

With your help, we will build tanks at primary and secondary schools in Uhambingeto, Tanzania, where students and community members will have access to the stored water. EI missionary, and Project Manager Andrew Winfield comments, “these tanks are a great way for us to demonstrate our love and care for the community and are a wonderful opportunity for us to build relationships with people and connect them to the local churches with whom we work.”

Once completed the tanks require minimal maintenance, meaning this project is an investment in students for years to come. If you remember that the economic benefit for Tanzanians is 9:1, your gift really will be received in the Tanzania economy as 9 times greater than its original value!

Your gift will multiply this year and every year, for years to come.  Think about it: a one- time gift of $100 today will generate an economic benefit of $450 every year, for years to come.  A one-time gift of $250 today will generate $2250 each year, for years to come!

Will you partner with us today to make sure that thousands of students in Tanzania will have access to clean water instead of having to risk drinking contaminated water?

In this economy there is almost nothing worth investing in that will provide a certain, measurably good return. Water will. Water changes lives.
